Kirsten's absence not to affect India in final Test

The Indian cricket team will be without coach Gary Kirsten for the final Test in Sri Lanka. But India's fortunes have not always depended on the coach, as seen 'Down Under' last season. India have had a number of high profile officials travelling with them including Lala Amarnath, Chandu Borde and Bishan Bedi. Ajit Wadekar was one who saw considerable success with Mohammad Azharuddin as captain. Under-prepared pitches were the order of the day when the triumvirate of Anil Kumble, Rajesh Chauhan and Venkatapathy Raju put it across visiting teams with ease. Wadekar had a long run with only Sunil Gavaskar stepping in for a while during a tournament in Sharjah when Wadekar suffered a heart attack.
