M S Dhoni: 'Mahi' was born in Almora, Uttarakhand. His parents Pan Singh and Devaki Devi were from a middle class family. His father was working in Mecon as junior management positions, when they left Uttaranchal and moved to Ranchi. Dhoni was a ticket collector in Indian Railways before he made it big as a cricketer. Dhoni has a sister named Jayanthi and a brother named Narendra. He initially excelled in badminton and football and was selected at district and club levels in these sports. Dhoni was a goalkeeper for his football team and was sent to play a local cricket club by his football coach, though he was not impressed with his batting skills, but was impressed with his wicket-keeping skills. And Dhoni did the job for the Commando Cricket Club.

Schools/Colleges attended: Schooling in Jawahar Vidya Mandir, Shyamali, Ranchi; now pursuing Bachelor's degree in St. Xaviers College, Ranchi.

Hobbies: Riding motorcycles.
