Mumbai: Discarded Test pace bowler Zaheer Khan has been cleared to play for Mumbai from the current season after the Mumbai Cricket Association's managing committee accepted his formal request to do so at its meeting on Friday.

"Zaheer gave a letter today requesting us to allow him to play for Mumbai from this season and we have accepted it," said MCA's joint secretary Lalchand Rajput.

Zaheer had already got a no objection certificate from Baroda, which he had represented till last season, before the September 30 deadline for transfer of players and sent the same to the MCA on Thursday, Rajput informed.
