Toronto: West Indies batsman Xavier Marshall set a new world record for the most number of sixes in a one-day international innings after the batsman blasted 12 in an unbeaten 157 to help West Indies defeat Canada in a triangular tournament encounter in King City.
The 22-year-old Marshall plundered Canada bowlers, belting his highest limited overs score from just 118 balls, which also included 11 fours.
Marshall's onslaught bettered the previous mark of 11 that had stood for 12 years after being set by Sri Lankan opener Sanath Jayasuriya in 1996 and equalled by Pakistani Shahid Afridi six months later.
Marshall's effort and 51 from Leon Johnson helped West Indies post a total of 4-303 off 50 overs. In reply Canada was bowled for 254 off 47.2 overs.
