Karachi: After the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI), it is the turn of its Pakistan counter (PCB) to be snubbed by a candidate for the coach's post.
Former New Zealand coach Steve Rixon has reportedly pulled out of the race for the Pakistan job, leaving fellow Australian Dav Whatmore as the front runner.
"I am grateful that they did make contact but at this point in time I have decided to coach private schools in Australia and am not inclined to take an international assignment," Rixon said.
Zakir Khan, a senior official of the board who also heads the special committee of the PCB said the committee would short list a couple of names from prospective candidates and forward it to the ad hoc committee for the final selection of a coach.
Refusing to give out any names, he did say that Whatmore remained a front runner for the job but said there were others in the run as well.
The BCCI was left red faced last week when South African Graham Ford rejected its offer to coach the Indian team.
