Vengsarkar playing his cards well

Dilip Vengsarkar, who has 'lorded' over the selection committee and who many feel is being treated badly by the Indian cricket Board, may actually be getting away with butter and cream in the ongoing tussle that is proving an embarrassment for virtually all concerned. Read The Article

sultan incidentally, did you know that the marathi newspaper "sakaal" for which the "colonel" was writing is owned by pratap pawar, who is sharad pawar''s brother! so draw your own conclusions! ( Posted: Saturday , December 08, 2007 at 11:10 )
Sunil One more reason why the selectors job should be a salaried job. Before joining ask them to relinquish all their associations and then pay them well. The tenure should be renewed depending upon the performance and selection meetings should be recorded so that they can be reviewed. BCCI does not have to go as far as televising them but there should be a panel outside of BCCI to review how selectors are doing. ( Posted: Saturday , December 08, 2007 at 07:47 )
Dr.CMM SUNDARAM. MD MRCP MBA My personal opinion about vengsarkar is that he doesnot deserve the position he holds. He is using the position for his personal financial gain.Without his current position he has no value to media.Let him resign. We will see that he will not be sought out to write columns. He thinks he is larger than Indian cricket. He is vindictive. The feed back confirms my opinion.Sooner he is shown the exit door better it will be for Indian cricket. The unproffessional BCCI does not know hoe to deal with him. There is no management at BCCI.They behave like overgrown school kids running a lemonade stand. Samir You say Vengsarkar has lorded over the selection committee but provide no justification it. How do you know he has ''lorded'' over the meetings. Have you personally attended the meetings? So in essence it is baseless. There is nothing wrong in making more money. If Vengsarkar saw that writing columns was one way to make money and his current job did not impose limitations to that, what is wrong if he writes for a newspaper. You say even players can not perform consistenly for a long period of time. If they can not perform why pay them so hefilty and pamper them. Take a look at Australia: You have Ricky Ponting, Shane Warne, McGrath, Mike Hussey consistently performing at the top level. My question to you is how do you know why Dravid has been dropped. He as a chief selector would have reasons to do so. India has been getting results and you can not tell he is selecting a bad team. Instead of writing such rubbish columns, it is better you provide justifications for any kind of attacks you make. The better thing would be instead of making attacks try to respect the decision made and maximize from the resources that is available. ( Posted: Saturday , December 08, 2007 at 02:29 )
K.V. RAJAGOPAL Whatever may be the form, Vengsarkar''s dropping of Dravid for the onedayers against Pakistan is a clear case of applying different yardsticks for different players. How on earth can he drop Rahul Dravid a proven player of excellence after just one series one day failure against Australians. Even in the onedayers in England recently, he was the outstanding performer. If this is the case, one doubts how many tests would Vengsarkar have played if the same yardstick was applied to him. One hopes that he will stop this whims and fancies and work for the betterment of Indian cricket as a whole ( Posted: Friday , December 07, 2007 at 23:54 )
more Rajat Roy Vengsarkar done the right job. he first show the door to mr. ugly chappel who keep our tem in first round in World Cup and is responsible to destroy the oppertunity to our legend person of Indian cricket Mr. sourav ganguly and then harbhajan, Irphan pathan and other player also. then Mr.Vengsarkar keep pressure on Mr. Dravid, who is the most unfaithful person, who once enter in the one day team as a player as wicket keeper otherwise he never can get entry as a one day player, he behave very ruff with sourav, then see dravid is now out of the team and may be he will be out of the test team beacuse of his current perfomace whoch will now continue with Pakistan team .very very good job done by our real hero Mr. Dilip Vengsarkar. more Emmveeyem Vengsarkar, out he must go. A cricketeer, however reputed might have been, cannot be defying the the terms of his appointment and freely indulge in anti-establishment activities. Now that he is "playing his cards well", he could try his hand at Bridge insted of Cricket! ( Posted: Friday , December 07, 2007 at 13:51 )
Ravindran If the chief selector is getting paid coz of his position then the Board may also be aware of this and may refuse to oblige him. Stripped of his selectors post, the paper he is writing for may also reassess his utility in which case he would be forced to submit himself to lesser income or no income. We will know only when he really quits. Jack Vengsarkar should be shown the door, and the sooner, the better! He seems to be calling the shots, and I am surprised that BCCI is bowing to his demands. I am not a fan of BCCI, but authority is authority, and I still remember him writing for a newspaper in spite of being told to stop. It is only when he was threathened with serious consequences, that he decided to withdraw. What a palaver....this is like a comedy in parts. ( Posted: Friday , December 07, 2007 at 07:58 )
Samir Kashyap There is no doubt that Vengsarkar would not be earning for writing columns if he were not the Chairman of Selectors. He was a great player no doubt but he has benn autocratic, biased & vindictive as a selector. If he had any self-respect, he would have resigned. However, his obsession for power & money has made him a laughing stock, yet some people are gullible enough not to see through him. ( Posted: Thursday , December 06, 2007 at 22:31 )
