Utpal Chatterjee named Bengal coach

Kolkata: Former left-arm spinner Utpal Chatterjee has been appointed the coach of the Bengal cricket team on Thursday for the coming season.

According to IANS Chatterjee, the most successful Bengal bowler with 504 first class victims, would take charge of the team from Friday, Cricket Association of Bengal president Jagmohan Dalmiya announced.

"It's a new challenge. It's a big challenge. We have to plan out things well," Chatterjee was quoted as saying by the agency after his appointment.

Bengal were relegated to the plate division of the Ranji Trophy last season.
