I agree India should be playing five bowlers and Dhoni is a reliable number six batsman, probably more reliable under pressure than some of the top order batsmen. But the problem India has it that they can''t disturb the big personalities. If you think about it, Pathan is perfect at number seven and should have played in place of either Ganguly or Laxman.

With the introduction of T-20s and one day internationals it will be extremely diffcult to convince oneself to sit and watch test cricket if the end result is draw. There fore all the teams should make mandatory to play atleast three fast bowlers and three spinners, wno have to each one of them has to bowl 10 overs per innining as minimum if the innining last over 90 overs or more otherwise fraction method should be introduced. There is anecesity in test match cricket to completely removing draw result by some innovative method such as being done in football penalty shoot out and itshould be a novel way which has not tried so far.Result draw should be avoided at all cost if we are to pull crowds.

"We tried absolutely everything we could, except hitting him over the head with a stump although that thought did occur to some of our bowlers!"...lol Mickey, but the bowlers can''t be blamed for that thought.Loved your article! Indeed, it''s going to be a tough choice on whom to replace if India decides to play a fifth bowler. The fourth bowler Ishant will obviously replace RP or Sreeshant and the fifth might take Sachin''s place in the side , but that will depend on the pitch.Goodluck man!

Dhoni is ugliness personified. With his nomadic hairstyle and beard he looks anything but a national level cricketer. Steven Harmission- pulls, Anil Kumble- Drives and Monty Panesar-defends more gracefully than Dhoni. Now, he is even inventing the most ugliest ways of getting out. God save Indian crickrt.

Dhoni - A batsman surprising.. And Arthur I think even a kid knows that Dhoni is not fit for test cricket. I don''t think India can afford to have Dhoni counted as a batsman.

The fact that sachin is injured should solve the problem if india are thinking of playing 5 bowlers. Ishanth sharma or piyush chawla could be the 5th bowler. Sehwag could also fill in the role of 5th bowler. Lets see how the ahmedabad pitch will be like. Roll on round two!

Mickey Arthur is a thoroughly honest and genuine guy and I''m sure the Indian fans will applaud his statements regarding the game. Unlike the Australian series, this game is being played in the true spirit it should be played and makes for a refreshing change. I am sure everyone is enjoying the game for the sake of the game and not for the controversies involved. May the best team win, because of it''s skill shown and not the ''sledging'' that was part of the past series.

Yes Jack- He loves the game and he is above the petty squabbles concerning countries and personalities. Any great performance deserves applause and credit. For that matter, in extreme hot and humid conditions, extreme batting friendly pitch, the Proteas bowled superbly as a team, their on field adaptation was excellent, fielding terrific , scored a grand 540 in their first innings and Mckenzie and Amla batted very well against spinners though the spin was not up to the mark on this pitch- all in all a superb effort for which they should deserve a win rather than a draw- but as we all saw the difference between a win and a draw was Viru and his Triple.
