more sad Grow up, news coverage like this make us a laughing stock around the world.

Who cares if he cut a cake looking like the flag!!!! a common custom all around the world in celebrations!!

Me4ans no dusrespect - lets all just grow up and be real - rather than a bunh of hypocrites ( Posted: Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 18:30 )
Nilesh S Well, both Tendulkar and Indian Diplomat should be prosecuted for this stupid act. If Tendulkar can''t recognize Indian tri-colour on the cake (however, he doesn''t have problem recognizing Indian tri-colour on his helmet), how can he recognize the colour of the ball (white or red) being delivered to him from 22 yards? Is he the reason he is getting bowled out more regularly these days?

Throw him out of the team and prosecute him. Just because he was a superstar once doesn''t mean he can get away with this. Tendulkar should have apologized for this act - but instead he is offering such lame excuses. What a loser! ( Posted: Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 18:07 )
MONICa It is highly embarrassing to see such a great player cutting the tri color cake, but I think the excitement of the players (which is over now) & the party atmosphere would have led to this incident. I am sure that incident does not question the player’s patriotism because after all it was Sachin who has helped every time; I remember during 2006 Mumbai blast Sachin was the first player to actually feature in the ad (spirit of Mumbai)... If he wasn’t a patriotic person he wouldn’t do it because most of the times players do not charge any fee for these kinds of ads (most of them are done by Sachin). I am sure the people who think that Sachin has done a crime are plainly jealous because they dint get the cake lol (I am sure there would have been no complains if they had a plate themselves too). I don’t think it is his fault he didn’t order the cake, people are just looking for excuses to frame Sachin, I pity the poor chap!! Hope he makes a stunning century & shuts mouths of the always blabbering criticizers of Sachin. The action should be taken against those who ordered the cake. Abhinav Sharma This is just a sad and pathetic attempt to get Tendulkar under pressure (but this time, it is outside the topic of cricket). For god sakes, it''s a cake, whatever color it is, it''s supposed to be cut anyway. If anyone should be blamed for it, it is the person who designed the cake. Why should Sachin get blamed for it. He was asked to cut the cake and he did. What wrong in that. It''s just really unfair against Tendulkar, seeing that he aggreed to cut the cake and when he does the critics try to absorb all the negativities from it and expose it to the public as if it is a huge deal. Pankaj There/s nothing wrong about this and an issue is unnecessarily created. Politicians are the ones who have the most disrespect for our tricolour. Near the venues where the national flag is hoisted, the flags can be seen in the dust bins the next day when the cleneers come to clean the venue ( Posted: Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 16:06 )
Shankara Rao It is a disgrace that national spirit is missing with Sachin & that too in an international arina, he should have first to object to such an issue bringing disrespect to National Flag. Many youngsters follow him as a role model & they should not take cue from what he has done. Hence law of land should be enforced on him without any reprieve. XYZ I sincerely think they should be left alone with their families for some time and specially media should not interfere in there matter for sometime. Give them time to recollect the mistakes and concentrate on what they do best. Play for the country. Sachin is not the one who ordered for that cake, he just did what he was asked to do, had India won the worldcup and these things happened no one would have bothered. Now that they lost anything they do will be considered as a mistake. Disrespect to the flag is happening everyday somewhere or the other. Can anyone for just once be true to yourself and say that you have never disrespected the flag and really did something for the country''s benefit instead of thinking about ourself? Atleast these cricketers are serving the nation by playing whatever be the result is. They are serving the nation more than we the viewers and the commentors. So lets with true heart leave them alone and let them enjoy playing. ( Posted: Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 15:55 )
Sachin Dear Fans,
I know there a huge hue and cry over my cutting cake in tri color. I have keeping silent all these time, but now I would like to share my thoughts on this. Can you spare a thought for us of what we go through ?
First of all I must admit I have to get get my eyes tested for colors. I am not able to distinguish colors specially orange, green and white.
I thought that the cake was in shape of a green pitch.
It also appeared to me that there was a ball in the centre, I was later told that it was Ashok Chakra.
Anway, since we were all hungry I could''nt resist the temptation and cut the cake.
Ever since Dravid and Ganguli as captain I have been given very few honour like this. I was not going to miss out this opportunity. I love cutting cakes, I have been doing this for last 33 years. I''ll again cut it on 24th april. I don''t know what color but definately orange, white and green are ruled out.
I hope You shall understand my predicament.
I definately had no intention of dis-honouring the flag.
You can call it slip of eye..er tongue.

rohini killough Oh for Heaven''s sake! How the hell does a tricolour cake show disrespect for the National Flag?Yesterday a report came out concerning the horrific levels of child abuse in the country, yet this little piece of non-news is what people are making a fuss about. Let''s get our priorities in place, folks. The sorry state of our Land, be it corruption, poverty or abuse is what is an insult to the Tricolour not an eggs and flour concoction. V S Manian Its the fate of Indian Cricket and Sachin. At a time, when
- Sachin is already ruing the missed chances to play a wonderful World Cup
- Sachin is being taken to task by all and sundries for the TEAM''s debacle
- Sachin is being served a Notice, just for tryig to defend himself and fellow SENIORS (in the wake of the first-leaked-then-concealed accusation from the Coach)

this media is creating a contronversy. It was NOT THE FLAG which Sachin cut. It was merely a cake having the colours of Indian flag. Recently, I saw a photo of a Mathaji simply keeping her legs on the National flag itself spread on the carpet in front of her..yet I never heared any hue and cry, except the spread of the photo through emails.

Since Sachin is most a silent person, all an sundries are taking advantage and trying to tarnish his hard earned popularity and fame. ( Posted: Wednesday, April 11, 2007 at 13:33 )
