Skipper Dhoni will get the team he wants

The leader of India's team of the future, MS Dhoni has spoken and the message to the BCCI seems clear: he has earned the right to demand the players he wants. And after what the young team achieved in Australia, a return to the coloured clothes seems unlikely for Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly, especially under skipper Dhoni's regime. Read The Article

Straight Drive	Since Dhoni has not acknowledged Sachin''s role in winning the two finals in Australia, is Dhoni trying to send a message to Sachin too that seniors are not required in the team. Such arrogance will back fire on Dhoni. Ofcourse players like yuvraj, harbhajan and pathan will support dhoni, coz no matter how poorly they perform, Dhoni will surely keep them in the team. Ugen Penjor	Recent successes has made Dhoni too big-headed and he has been uncultivated in his statements to the media. Yes, the Indian team has done a commendable job in Australia and Dhoni has shown a great flair as a captain. He is getting what he wants for now. But as a person, he is boorish and haughty. He has been harping about his "young brigade" so much so that he fails to publicly acknowldge senior Sachin''s stand-alone contribution in the finals that got India the CB series. Sachin, who is the greatest batsman in terms of runs scored in international cricket, has been subdued inspite of knock-out performances in Australia. He didn''t talk much about himself but about the team and also duly gave credit to the seniors for their contribution to lifting the level of Indian cricket. Put all the current lot of cricketers (including Dhoni himself and Yuvi) together, they cannot match the contribution of the fab five: Sachin (28,000+ runs), Rahul (20,000+ runs), Saurav (16,000+ runs), Anil (600+ wickets), and VVS Laxman (10,000+ runs) in international cricket. Out of the 5 completed matches against australia, sachin clicked in 3 games and india won all the three. In 2 games when he did not perform against australia, india was thrashed. And for the record, i would not bet against ganguly being in the team for the WC 2011 and dhoni being out of the team by 2011. Also, if dhoni claims that his team is so good, lets see how they do in the champions trophy in 2009, and what they can do if tendulkar does not play in the so-called dhoni''s young team. LVISS	The fact is, whoever is the captain he would get the team he wants.Otherwise what is the point in calling himself a captain.The difrence between Dhoni and other captains is that they never boasted abt it.Changes occured without much rancour and prolonged debate. One captain,in my opinion, who did not get the team he should have got was Sachin. Other captains generally had their way.This young Dhonis team achieved nothing without the senior Tendulkar. They were a pathetic lot.Just look at the record of yuvaraj and Uthapa and sreesanth.See what hapnd to them in the T20 match and how much they managed to score.. S Balakrishnan	This is a dangerous situation for Indian cricket. What are the 5 wise men there for if the captain gets the full right to decide the team he wants? Dhoni can, at best,be given the right to select 3 players with the right to select the rest of the team going to the selectors.Dhoni seems to suggest that he knows better than the selectors. Jackyj	Its not confidence,but arrogance that is coming out of Dhoni''s mouth.We all watched the real and humble 34years old hero of the CB series. I don;t want to take any credit away from the youngsters,but they still need guidance & experience of the seniors.Other than Gumbir no young player was consistent.I wish Dravid did not have given up his captaincy position.Indian team had more sheen then, than it has now,I am sure with Rahul &Ganguly we still had won.
