Full name: Sanath Teran Jayasuriya

Born on: 30th June, 1969 at Matara.

Teams represented: Sri Lanka, Asia Eleven and World Eleven.

Specialty: All-rounder (left had batsman and left arm spinner)

Profile: One of the most explosive batsmen in the world, Jayasuriya made his Test debut against New Zealand at Hamilton in February, 1991.

From 110 Tests, the former Sri Lankan skipper has scored 6973 runs from 188 innings with 340 as his highest score for an average of 40.07 with 14 tons and 31 fifties to his credit and has also taken 98 wickets with five for 34 as his best figures and has held 78 catches.

More suited to the shorter versions of the game, Jayasuriya, has scored 12,287 runs from 410 One-Day Internationals with 189 as his highest for a strike rate of 90.43 and has taken 307 wickets with his left arm spinners with six for 29 as his best and has also held 116 catches after he made his debut against Australia at Melbourne on December 26.

Jayasuriya, who made his Twenty20 International debut against England at Southampton on June 15, 2006 has played in seven matches scoring 246 runs with 88 as his highest for a strike rate of 165.50 with a total of 31 fours and ten sixes.

He has also taken nine wickets from seven matches conceding 155 runs with three for 21 being his best and is one of the most experienced all-rounder in the IPL tourney commanding a whooping 975,000 US Dollars per year from Mumbai team.
