Protests force withdrawal of cheerleaders

Dambulla: After keeping the crowd entertained during the first One-Dayer, the cheerleaders were conspicuous by their absence in the second ODI here on Wednesday due to protests by the locals.

According to a news report, the Sri Lanka Cricket board withdrew them after instructions from the government following protests from some quarters in this religious city.

The cheerleaders made their ODI debut in the first One-Dayer here which India lost to the hosts.
