PCB nominates Majid Khan as ICC cricket committee chief
Mumbai: Former Pakistani batsman Majid Khan has been nominated by the Pakistan cricket Board (PCB) as a candidate for the ICC's cricket committee chairman, according to Zakir Khan, the director, cricket operations.
"We have on Friday forwarded our nomination to the ICC and seek support from the other countries after Sunil Gavaskar resigned from this post earlier this week," he said.
"Majid Khan is an upright person having good reputation. He fulfills the ICC's necessary criteria for the post", Zakir Khan added.
The 61-year-old Majid Khan has played 63 Tests - 33 more than mandatory of 30 Tests as per ICC's requirements and has no media commitments". He has been a cricket committee member of the MCC-Lord's.
Majid was a Cambridge Blue and he followed his father Jahangir Khan into Test cricket, though he never matched his father's feat of hitting a sparrow in flight at Lord's.
He was a no-nonsense administrator and worked as PCB's CEO in the past for few years.
