"It's very difficult to assemble players from six countries for seven days because of the packed calendar for all the teams. Players cannot be faulted for missing the tournament. They are overworked.
"They find it difficult to have even seven days' time to be with their family. (Under these circumstances) If they want to take a break we should respect that," he said.
Huq said the ACC will take a final decision and recommend to the Olympic Council of Asia about the format to be followed when cricket makes its debut in the Pan-Asian quadrennial sports extravaganza at Guangzhou, China in 2010.
"We feel Twenty20 is the format that will be suitable for the Asian Games as then we can finish off the event in seven days, but a final decision on the matter has not been taken yet," he said.
Huq also said countries would send their best available teams for the Games.
"For example during the time of the Games India would be engaged in a series with New Zealand and may not be able to field their best players. But the best available team would take part," he explained.
The Guangzhou Games will be held from November 12 to 27, 2010.
