Mumbai: The brand ambassador of the Chennai Super Kings and former India captain Krish Srikkanth was all praise for the Super Kings after they pulled off that brilliant win against Mohali in the semi-finals. And he feels that his team can put it past the rampaging Royals tonight.
Krish Srikkanth: Frankly, I think there was a plan to it (Chennai vs Mohali semi-fianl match). Did you see how (Makhaya) Ntini bowled - not a single ball was there for Shaun Marsh to be play the square cut or the cover drive. That was extremely vital and that was the reason why Marsh got choked and he threw his wicket away. I thought, Ntini bowled brilliantly. And (Manpreet) Gony getting those early wickets throughout this tournament have been very crucial as when you get those early wickets, the pressure is on the opposition.
CNN-IBN: You also said that once we get Shaun Marsh then they (Mohali) would be in trouble. Was that the plan?
Krish Srikkanth: That is right! The difference between both the teams is - Chennai is not dependant on one man, everybody have been contributing, whereas, for Mohali, it had been Shaun Marsh all the way. I think, that made the big difference. Can you single out a particular player from Chennai and say we won the match because of him? No!
It has been a team effort and if you look at it and look at the tables, and if you check the top 10 batsmen or top 10 bowlers, you won't find a single cricketer from Chennai in that list of top 10 batsman or the top 10 bowlers. But still we are in the finals.
CNN-IBN: What do you think will happen in the final?
Krish Srikkanth: The victory in the semi-finals as well as the victory in the last league match (against Hyderabad) will give us a lot of confidence and cricket is a game of confidence. And believe it or not, but Suresh Raina said even before the start of the Hyderabad match that he will win matches for us. That is a great sign and the way he was pulling the ball (during Chennai-Mohali semi-final) was just amazing.
