THYAGARAJAN HARBHAJAN HAS BEEN LET OFF WITH 50 % CUT IN MATCH FEES. FOR USING SUCH A FOUL LANGUAGE IN AN ANTERNATIONAL MATCH, IF I WAS THE BCCI CHIEF , I WOULD HAVE SACKED HARBHAJAN FROM FURTHER MATCHES . LET US UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE GIUDELINES WHEN A PLAYER IS PROVOKED. i FEEL THAT HARBHAJAN HAS PUT INDIA TO SHAME AFTER USING FOUL LANGUAGE THAT IS UNPRINTABLE , WHILE "mONKEY" WHICH IS PRINTABLE IS CONSIDERED AN HIGHER LEVEL OF ABUSE.WHY THE bcci IS SILENT IS NOT UNDERSTOOD. uNLESS THE BOARD TAKES ACTION AGAINST HARBHAJAN , THE PLAYERS ARROGANCE WILL CONTINUE AND IT IS NOT GOOD FOR THE FRIENDLY GENTLEMEN GAME OF CRICKET ( Posted: Friday , February 01, 2008 at 13:09 )
bstonwer being a cricket fan since forty years, i am totally disappointed to see the cricket players abuseing each other and punishments being given to only to the players of the asian countries. i am also disappointed to the player playing at such level not being honest and on being out not walking. i am also surprised and disappointed to see the palyer, who have won after cheating the game of the cricket and its spirit, are not ashamed of their act. i think it is high time that all the incompitent offials running the show of the cricket are said good bye, all the cricketers knowingly staying at the crease on out and the players found guilty of abuseing should be penalized to save the gave of the cricket which was called and which is still being played as gentlemen game by most of the players all over the world except few bad characters. nita Why are the Aussies feeling so bad at Bhajji''s verdict? Is it because for the first time they haven''t got their way with the judgement. They are the ones who have always gloated about their sledging by saying they play aggressive and uncompromising cricket. They unable to handle the new aggressive India .They should infact be grateful to judge Hansen for not punishing Symonds ,who started it all by abusing Harbhajan. navin The problem is not cricket players (Aus or India)but the current lot of Indian cricket adminstrators BCCI. Look the way the whole bunch have behaved in the last 1 year or so... Each guy Niranjan Shah, Shukla, Lalit Modi & some Shashanak Monhar,Bindra,Dungrapur all have vested interests and they speak in different tones about any cricket crises. Each trying to overrule the other. These bunch of jokers threatened all foriegn cricket boards not to allow any of their players sign ICL... Deny cricket grounds to rival cricket competitors.. This has lowered the image of BCCI and Indian cricket team alongwith entire nation in forign countries...How can BCCI so openly threaten to pullout without the proper judgement.. The problem is the current lot of guys happen to be affliated to certain poltical parties-Shard Pawar-NCP, Shukla-Congress, etc who are habitual in threating the state/ Central Govt at every travial issue.... The Indian cricket can be disclipened only by appointing top CEOs, Finance guys/ PR guys... otherwise the current crop will just mint money and damage the game... prasanna I think that Judge Hansen''s findings and sentencing do not tally. He found both Symonds and Bhajji indulged in abusing. He also found that the Ozz witnesses were concocting/orchestrating a story. But he sentenced only Bhajji on a charge different from that in the case! I don''t think nay Court will approve of this as due process!

jithender mehra as an indian it is extremely frustrating for me to note some of us do not wholeheartedly stand by the bcci.i do not want to seperate the allegation business from the umpiring fiascco.if umpires are unbiased professionals and can make human errors as alleged by clive lloyd, then howcome they the errors are so grossly onesided not only now but for a number of years then why should you not judge an umpire''s performance and drop him for not being in form.cricket is a very high profile sport the technology should take over the real umpire and provide competent judgement. i beleive harbhajan singh said nothing racial.

more PPK Rajshekar,

The Australian''s are behaving like kids as Wasim Akram rightly pointed out. They are the worst sledgers of the game and their arrogance on and off the field is all but ungentlemanly. Comming back to this racial slur, Symonds is no saint and how can we believe him, when his own integrity is in question, he never walks even he''s clearly out and he has the audacity to aknowledge that he was lucky not being given out inspite of edging one. Even if Harbhajan had called him a Monkey, there is nothing racial about it, except if Symonds ancestors were from Mars.

The so called Clowns from ICC (read Mike Procter) who gaurd the game should be more neutral and else we have to flex our muscles (or money). Looking back at all the previous punishment meted out to Indians or Asian players over the last few years, it clearly proves that ICC gaurdians are biased towards non whites (am I racial here?).

The "Monkey" is definetly off Harbhajan''s back, I can''t say the samething about the Aussies they are such poor loosers & bad role models.

Your article should dwelve upon other issues in this matter, rather critising BCCI or it''s muscle power or ICC''s weak knees.

End result, we lost Sydney when we should have won it and if there was some sense of sportsmanship from Symonds, he should have walked after edging it.

To add to salt to injury, he accuse''s Harbhajan of being racist, when the entire episode started because of him....LOOK WHO''S TALKING. ( Posted: Thursday , January 31, 2008 at 10:28 )
Kumar Every one is making such a hue & cry over so called, ''Racist remarks’; the matter is a lot deeper. It is about systematic indecent behavior that was nurtured by Mr Steev Waugh & Glenn Mc Graw and the legacy carried over by his successors and ICC''s Blind eye to this Atrocious behavior.

Any one with self respect will RESPOND to these stupid antiques on the field, now glamourously called as ''Sledging''. Kfogden do you get the point, as to where the origin of the trouble lies?

Ravi Raju beautifully Said and right on the button. Excellent Article and brings the right things forward. Great work. ! ( Posted: Thursday , January 31, 2008 at 04:55 )
Vik To Kfogden ,if monkey is indeed a racial abuse , then why wasn''t Macgrath brought to justice when he called Jayasurya a "Black monkey" or was it because it had come from an aussie player that he couldn''t be called racist ? And how about India dropping charges against Hogg ? I , like most of us believe that Symonds and Hogg were the lucky guys to have escaped without getting reprimanded;Symonds for initiating the abuse and Hogg for the abuses he dished out to Kumble and Dhoni.
