Both Sachin and Ganguly didn''t rise up to the occassion, today''s cricket needs performance and not glory of the past. what use is those records and experience if they don''t get delivered when needed. over dependence on players means 2 things, 1. if they don''t deliver we loose 2. if they are kept in the team for too long, nobody else can get a chance. So I think dropping players who are not useful to the team''s cause is needed

Idiots punched the favourite punching bag (Sourav Ganguly) again. I wonder what people will do when Sourav will not be there. Who will everybody make the scapegoat? India was tottering after a 4-0 drubbing in ODI-series in South Africa when Sourav came back and scored a match-winning 83 in Potchefstrom. In the first Test he contributed 76 match runs in a low-scoring Test which INDIA WON! Second Test everybody failed. Third Test, Dravid-Sachin ruined a fantastic platform created by Sourav in the 2nd innings and India lost. Coming back home, Sourav made the best ever comeback into ODIs scoring at 70/match. India won both against WI and SL; Sourav was MOS against SL. In the WC match against B''desh, India was reeling at 75-4. Sourav scored 66 runs but rather ''slowly'' (you lack basic knowledge when you complain of slow play - can''t blame a batsman for slow batting when team can''t bat it''s full quota). Bermuda match he made 90(110) (Uthappa was out early and Sehwag was firing). His only failure was the Sri lanka match! Based on that, a few shameless, sick people have said whatever they liked. Indian cricket have no future if these people are not disposed off at the earliest.

It is becoming increasingly clear that Mr. Greg Chappell is and was never a good coach. His previous stints at coaching were also not successful. He was a great player but his methods and manners were not suited to Indian psyche and reading reports from the land of OZ also confirm he was not very good at home either. 22 months and a few ruined careers later(Pathan, Kaif, Ganguli, Harbhajan, etc), it is time to move on. Admit the mistakes and look to the future.

You are right. But the realization has come among Indian little too late when Chappell and Dravid has desroyed every thing. Even now some people are harping dropping Sachin and Sourav

If it was a sting then the discordant role played by Chappell et al is confirmed. But the question remains, was it a sting operation in the first place? What better way to say what you want to and have it telecast without penalty. If it had been a regular interview, it might have been actionable by the BCCI; the selector might not have the guts to say the same in an interview; leaves one open to possible libel if in an interview...so sting operation is most convenient and can always be fixed up with any news channel.

Dravid dismisses reports of rift in team: Though Dravid has said no, I believe he is just being tactful and diplomat. If the contents of the original news about it are true -- real or even perceived as attributed to the selector for the World Cup Team, then both Sachin and Ganguli should be dropped, nay, retired for indiscipline and lack of support. Any player who supported their cause should also be dropped - not just for one series but much longer time to set an example. Hell with such brand names! We don''t need such players. This is an extremely serious matter, in my view. No captain or coach could do any thing for the team which has people with personal agenda and divide. Maybe, Greg Chappell read it in South Africa -- before other selectors -- and therefore, did not like the attitute of Sachin and some other players. Why was Sachin made a vice-captain in the first place. He is not such a material -- inspite of his good batting but past record. If this is indeed true, then how could the same selectors pick up such dissidents, it is pathetic indeed. Don''t they discuss such issues in the meeting. Thank you!

I am amazed by your logic. Without any shred of evidence - you put Dravid on a pedestal on one hand, give a clean chit to Chappell and castigate Sachin and Saurav. What about the reports that Chappell was the single most important reason for the rift in the team my friend? Have you considered the possibility that Chappell caused the rift between Dravid and other seniors ? None of us have anough information to draw conclusions. But you simply believe what you want to believe for reasons best known to you !!!

People who can write such stuff are needed in BCCI. But what happens when Captain and Coach had Agenda? Read blogs - " My Remedy for Men in Blue" - by Chandrasekhar, former selector and my blog "Remedy for Men in Blue - are we serious" in www,sulekha.com
