Mumbai: India's medium-pacer - Shanthakumaran Sreesanth is likely to be exonerated in the BCCI-appointed Commissioner Sudhir Nanavati's report, it is learnt here.
According to the highly placed sources present during Friday's hearing in Ahmedabad, it has been emerged that the Kings XI Punjab pace bowler Sreesanth did not provoke Mumbai Indians' acting captain Harbhajan Singh any time during the IPL match at Mohali on 25th April and therefore is likely to be un-punished.
Meanwhile, Harbhajan Singh once again apologised for his behaviour, according to the sources.
"Harbhajan could not give reason for slapping Sreesanth but he did say sorry", the source added.
Nanavati would have acceded the request but no lawyer from either player was present during 150 minute hearing on Friday. But the BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah and BCCI lawyer Akhila Kaushik were present during the camera recordings, it is learnt here.
"Both players were little nervous, however, Harbhajan Singh was more nervous than Sreesanth", the source further added, though Sudhir Nanavati maintained, "both the players were normal, very supportive and co-operating during the proceedings".
Nanavati questioned both players one by one. Harbhajan Singh was first to go in the chamber and then it was the turn of Sreesanth.
Nanavati did not attempt to ensure both players shake hands after the hearings.
