Get your own security, WI to India

CNN-IBN has learnt that the decision comes after a security team was sent to assess the situation. The team returned with a report that there were chances of terror groups targeting the tournament, particularly at venues where India are slated to play. Some players of the Indian cricket team have been facing threats from terror outfits like Lashker-e-Toiba. Read The Article

viswanathan s	It is the responsibility of the host country to provide security to the visiting players. If they can''t provide than they have no business to organise a mega event like the World Cup 2007 in their country. It will not be possible for an out sider to read the topography of the place at a short interval and give coverage to the players for a long duration of around 30 days and at different venues. Well in some extreme cases Heads of the states take their security staff along with them which is mandatory agreement with their respective country like the case of Presidents of USA,Russia, Prime Minister and Queen of Britan etc where their programme prescheduled. If it is the case then Indian Govt. has to send commando forces every time our players visit a foreign country and the question arises why only to Cricket players and why not to our players of Tennis, Chess, Atheletics etc. ( Posted: Friday , March 02, 2007 at 19:49 )

Sir, I am not only concern about this money and this event; I worried about every single penny which I could see/feel as waste from our hard worked tax money. Boss we work day/night to earn money & pay “HUGE” IT from it & than if we see it being misused (abused) is killing. There are so many needy & our poor infrastructure which would be right fit for this money. It is not important whether Team India can reach to any level in the tournament. Remember they were the finalists in 2003 in SA.What is important is that the players should not get into some kind of brawls, late night merry making and drinking spree''s is possible that security cover may help minimise these kinds of instances. Terror threat is there for everybody and players are also vulnerable.
