Kolkata: Former BCCI Chief Jagmohan Dalmiya on Friday filed his nomination for president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, a post he has held in the past.
Dalmiya said he was confident of winning when the election takes place on annual general meeting on July 29.
"I am hundred per cent sure about winning the election. I am also hopeful about our panel of contestants coming through in the elections,'' he said.
Asked whether his becoming the CAB president would cause any problem between it and the BCCI, Dalmiya quipped, ''Why should there be any problem ?''
To another question whether court cases with the BCCI could cause any hurdle for him in contesting the election, he said, ''There is no hurdle for me to contest the CAB
election.''
Besides Dalmiya, others who filed nominations on Friday included Samar Kar, Shibaji Dutt, Shib Kumar Kalyani and Subhashish Karmakar for vice-presidents' posts, Biswaroop Dey and Arun Mitra for joint secretaries, Bablu Ganguly for Treasurer and PB Dutta (Chairman), Rabi Mitra and Debabrata Bhattacharya (both members) for CAB trustee board.
From the ruling faction CAB president Prasun Mukherjee and join secretaries Samar Pal and Amitabha Banerjee also threw their hats into the ring.
Nominations for other posts as well as for the trustee board would be filed by the camp by July 21, the deadline for doing so, Samar Pal said.
