G.R.sundararajan Dear Sir,
You really took us to 60.61.How can one forget the motorcade and the rousing farewell given by australia to West Indies. There was valour, humour courage and applauding the opponent''s game etc. When some body remarked to Sobers in the later years about helmet his retort was if the bowler has a ball I have a bat. What a great team it was?Just as australia has not produced another Bradman West Indies have not produced another team like the one in 60-61.Keep writting We enjoy reading them.

Ram Prasad Sir Narottam,
I do understand the fervour and attitude of the yesteryear cricket pundits like Don Bradman and Gary Sobers but the tenacity and sagacity with which they have played the game and stood up to the fast bowling of other countries with a style of their own is something sorely missing from the present generation of cricketers, who thrive and thrall on just winning the game and not the hearts. Siddhanth Another test series that deserves mention is the India-Pakistan series in 1998-99. Those who saw that series would not only remember it for Kumble''s 10 wickets or Saqlain''s 20 wickets in the series or Tendulkar''s 136 in the Chennai test, but more so for the standing ovation given by the Chennai crowd to the Pakistani team as they took a victory lap around the stadium. Not to forget of course, that the onfield behaviour was impeccable, which could have influenced the grand gesture of the crowd. ( Posted: Saturday , January 19, 2008 at 11:43 )

John Samuel The condition is still not changed in Australia/Australians. There is always a bit of racism in them. Right from John Howard to an ordinary citizen there is racism in them. Till the late 90''s and even still they have the ''One Australia'' policy which is against the Asian immigrants. This mentality is not different with the ruling or opposite party in Australia. As per the 2001 census the population comprises 64.7% of Europeans and 5.9% Asians. And with this % John Howard was really worried about the increasing Asians thinking that they may pollute the so called Australian culture. Very recently Pauline Hanson, founder of Pauline''s United Australia Party went to an extent of providing comments about African migrants carrying disease into Australia. Racism has rooted in the society and it will take more time to get cleared. Sports is not an exception and so Cricket is no more a Gentleman''s game there. It''s a shame that Australian media always has something to talk about racism and nothing about sledging. Surprising is that they are unable to bear the taste of their own medicine.
