C.Sukumar When we play a match a newcomer is expected to score as many runs or take as many wickets as an old hand. So from that angle the remuneration should be same for all. However, as the individual performance is easily visible, we should have a comittee of 3 plus the captain and coach who will rate the performance of each player every match they play. End of the season rating provided for every match should be reviewed and a generous bonus given to the players. This i feel is the best option. This way a terrific match winning 25 runs or 2 wickets could be rated highly by the captain and others in a committee. ( Posted: Thursday , May 10, 2007 at 19:36 )
Vaidehi Shah Its about time someone put the players in their place. This bunch of underperformers have made millions. I am all for the players making more money but there should be an incentive basis for this. The players could even continue making crores per year but it should be through the board and based on their performances. The problem with Indian cricket was that the players were making more than 90 percent of their earnings off the field and therefore, they really had no incentive to excel. Winning a game was not that important but looking like the hero in the public''s eye was. The player''s main motivation was looking the hero and the team be damned. Hopefully, restricting the players endorsement earnings and paying through an incentive based system might bring about some improvement. ( Posted: Thursday , May 10, 2007 at 08:42 )
more Sima Excellent Article, but very opportunistic and cunning.
Yes, this is the age of performance based compensation, but then the board still has to pay the players the money due since the Malaysia Tri series.
Can the writer put some light on why the board has still not payed the players the money even after some 4-5 months?
In such a scenario, dont blame the players to trust the board to pay them the money that the board is promising for winning all the time.
Yes, calculations show a huge amount. What the calculations dont show is implementation.
So Respected Mr. Srivastava, can you please go back to the writing pad, review your current article and post a more balanced view?
If I were a player I wont trust the board to pay me the promised incentives. Well They still have to pay the dues for the past 4 months. And dude not as if they dont have money. For christs sake, it is the richest cricket board in the world. ( Posted: Tuesday , May 08, 2007 at 18:57 )

bunty61 excellent article; this is the age of performance based compensation and cricket a team game; if seniors say otherwise they should not trot out team game excuse if team loses; but yes bcci should let players earn subject to minimum regulation of clauses and cap on no of individual players a single co can sponsor (otherwise they can opt for team endorsements) ( Posted: Monday , May 07, 2007 at 19:49 )
