BCCI deserves to answer 'reserve' riddle

Wasim Jaffer deserves to be in the side, while Gautam Gambhir and Aakash Chopra do not. Yuvraj Singh and Harbhajan Singh are declared fit, but the latter still has to undergo a fitness test. Piyush Chawla was a 'reserve'; Dinesh Karthik is not. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has a slight question mark against his name, while Murali Kartik seems to have reached a full stop. Its back to business as usual in Indian cricket. Read The Article

LVISS Nothing surprising. When they choose to announce a odi team in the midst of an absorbing test match in Aus this sort of thing can happen. The point is ,they perhaps expect some players to recover and some to carry the injury. No firm policy here. For example, If Dhoni gets up from his injury Karthik will have to wait.Curiously there is no talk of injury to the three seniors who have been included in the test squad. They remain the fittest.

Nihar Wasim jaffer is selected coz of the below formula

sharad pawar = wasim jaffer ( Posted: Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 11:16 )
more virgo The article is spot on. Jaffer''s inclusion blows one''s mind especially after his demonstrated inability (and lack of footwork and technique) to face quality pace bowling. Apparently, Jaffer has some strong political connections as does Yuvraj. In a just and sane world, both Jaffer and Yuvraj should have been dropped. I would also have rested Tendulkar and asked Dravid to prove his form in domestic cricker first. No politics, favoritism or any other factor other than form and performance should ever enter into the selection criteria. ( Posted: Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at 02:54 )
Mohammed Rasheed Akash and Ghambhir should have been included. When we talk about becoming number one test playing nation, selector''s should follow talk with action, select best players. ( Posted: Tuesday , March 18, 2008 at 22:54 )
Alkesh What is the need of this kind of article? The message of selectors is clear: If Murli karthik is not fit as he has injury then Piyush will take his place and if Dhoni fails the fitness test which is least likely then Dinesh karthik will take his place. Why so much confused with word reserve. Media should avoid this kind of unnecessary criticism. Best luck of India. Team India is rocking. ( Posted: Tuesday , March 18, 2008 at 22:06 )
Venu Guys ! Pls give a break. I guess everyone in India thinks they know better than what the selectors know (?!?!?!). Please stop making a mountain out off a mole-hill. Give some credibility to the selectors. They deserve to pick the side and not we. This is the very reason why they are selectors. When the selectors read this article I think they would really laugh at the "contemplation of possibility of three openers from Delhi " what a joke ? Grow up India, its time !! Aditya Mookerjee Perhaps, we are a little harsh on the administration. India, being a large nation, and with autonomous state cricket associations, there may be hiccups in the running of the BCCI. The selectors made their choice, and it was not to antagonise the public. I am sure Gambhir and Chopra, both good players, will get their chance. If Jaffer, and Sehwag, score big in the series, will anyone complain? Jaffer has always been an ominous player for the opposition, in India. I do not think this series will be different, provided, Jaffer does not feel that he has to justify every moment of his existence on the cricket field, during this tour. Rohit This article is a bit over-done. But the selection is wrong on two counts. Gambhir should be in for Jaffer. And someone (Tiwari/Raina/Sharma/?) should replace Yuvraj. Only three among Tendulkar/Dravid/Ganguly/Laxman should play in the eleven but we can forget about that. ( Posted: Tuesday , March 18, 2008 at 21:04 )
Dr.NPDas Indian cricket is bound to be doomed unless Yuvi is dropped. Jaffer may be there but Gambhir should also be there. But not Yuvi. ( Posted: Tuesday , March 18, 2008 at 20:55 )
nachi Badrinath the Current southzone and tamilnadu captain is the best prospect for middle order to replace the old guards. He is a technically correct player and is a brilliant fielder. He is 27 now and probably is in the peak of his domestic career scoring runs in all forms of cricket. Why is he not even in the picture when a failure like yuvraj is selceted again and again for tests? These are the very reasons that makes us feel BCCI is akin to the Politicians of this country and the country does well in the game despite these hurdles ...how i wish we would have lost in australia badly so that these bunch of jokers get a dose of reality.
