Born on: June 9, 1975 at Birmingham in England.

Specality: Right hand middle order batsman and right arm medium pace and off spin bowler.

Profile: Controversies seem to follow this talented all-rounder from Queensland. A hard-hitting batsman and an useful bowler, Symonds, made his Test debut against Sri Lanka at Galle in March 2004 after waiting for six long years to play in a Test match for Australia even though he made his ODI debut against Pakistan at Lahore on November ten, 1998.

Considered as ODI specialist for most part of his career, Symonds came to his own in the recently concluded Test series against India. From 19 Test matches, the tall all-rounder has scored 1031 runs with 162 not out as his highest for a Test average of 41.24 and a strike rate of 66.55.

With 4772 ODI runs to his credit from 187 matches with a highest score of 156 runs for a strike rate of 93.18, he is considered as the best catch by the Hyderabad team in the IPL Twenty20 with a whooping 1.35 million US Dollars pay check per year.

With a superb 85 not out as his highest in 13 Twenty20 internationals he has played so far for a total of 198 runs at a magnificent strike rate of 170.20 (33 boundaries and 10 sixes) and 11 catches. He is one of the main attractions in India’s premier tournament.

Symonds, who also has five half centuries to his credit, has taken 11 catches. He also has an incredible bowling record in ODIs taking 124 wickets from 187 matches with five for 18 as his best.

In Test matches the Aussie all-rounder has taken 22 wickets from 19 matches while in the Twenty20 format he has 17 wickets conceding 573 runs with two for 14 as his best figures.
