Kanpur: India's man of the match in Kanpur was a veteran who showed plenty of skill. Sourav Ganguly's 87 laid the foundation of India's strong first innings total. He spoke to CNN-IBN's Vimal Kumar.

On his 119-ball 87

In the context of the game, it was extremely important because we were down 0-1 in the series. We were 120-3 and we had to bat last on this track. So I just thought of playing positively because it is very important to get runs on these kind of surfaces.

When you get extra defensive you get bogged down and when a wicket falls, the pressure mounts on the entire team. So I tried to stay positive.

On his form since his return to Test cricket

Obviously the last 17-18 Tests I have played, I have done consistently well, and I hope to continue with the good work.

On plans of ODI comeback

I'm hopeful of a return to One-day cricket. I scored almost 1300 runs in One-day cricket last year. I hope I'll get my opportunity in the future.

On the IPL

We're looking forward to the IPL, so hope to enjoy it.
