Does Brian Lara get the kind of respect that he deserves?

West Indian batsman Brian Lara has been one of the world's best ever. But somehow, he does not seem to command so much respect from team-mates or cricket fans back home. Is he a selfish player as many make him out to be?

He has not done anything great to deserve much respect. he has played with only records in mind and not for winning matches. in a country like ours he would have been dropped long ago. he is not consistent but he was the best batsman in a very mediocre team in his era for the West Indies. No doubt Brian is the genius batsman. Somehow West Indies Board are not utilising him properly. Still he stands tall in the Public view as a very great cricketer but it is not clear as to why some of the Board officials and some senior great cricketers of West Indies are reluctant to accept his popularity. If the Board still decides he can be continued for atleast one more year in the international cricket at test level. But he must be continued only as Captain for Test team and Mr.Sarwan may lead the ODI team so that Lara can produce some great shots and say goodbye in high style. (Posted: April 23, 2007, 5:11 pm)

of late, i feel brian lara hasnt been getting the kind of respect he deserves because first of all westindies dismal show at the world cup and then lara who hasnt been scoring runs of late so respect he is getting is quite questionable but he does not deserve such kind of respect because he has served west indies very helpully for a decade so so and has been consistently performing wonderfuuly well.if we take at the past records we find that he has held many records and has served his country at the right time and perhaps has chosen the right time to retire.(Posted: April 21, 2007, 12:25 pm)
