Should seniors be dropped in favour of youngsters?

After the poor show by the Indian cricket team in the World Cup the new manager Ravi Shastri has said that more young players should be tried out during the Bangladesh tour.

I think the Indian team should include Dravid, Tendulkar, Ganguly, Sehwag, Khan, Y Singh, H Singh, RP SIngh, Karthik, Gambhir, Kumble, Pathan, Uthappa, and Sreesanth. But my main thing is I want everyone in Team India, even without a coach, to unite together. Then they might even score 536 runs. They must must do it. INDIA KI ZINDHABAD! JAI HIND! Sack Tendular.Ganguly,Agarkar and Harbhajan forever since they play only for themselves Ganguly and Tendulkar play only for personal landmaks and not for the Team. This is very evident in the way they score slowly inspite of many wickets in hand. The Indian team has lost many matches due to them. Everyone mentioned above should be sacked and we should start afresh. Tendulkar and Ganguly should be dropped immediately after their disastrous performances in the World Cup. Also Zaheer, Agarkar and Harbhajan. I would not be surprised if the youngsters are scared of this Senior Mafia. Why are we not taking any action. Wake up BCCI, HOW MANY MORE REPORTS AND RESULTS DO YOU NEED. The Senior players take their places for granted and have become a liability. How long can we rely on Past Peroformances and forget Current Form. (Posted: May 19, 2007, 10:35 pm)

i think the senior players r playing well.due bad luck they didnt perform well in the WC.the only thing that indin team is missing is a good captain.Dravid is great batsman but not a good leader.in tough situations he takes alot of tension which was visible from his face in the match against BD in very early overs when BD were batting.Yuvraj should be made the leader.im sure that Yuvraj is the only man who can handle this indian side very well and lead from the front. The other week point of indian team is their pace bowling zaheer, pathan, sreesanth & munaf etc are all out of form they r unable to give early break throughs.pathan should concentrate more on his bowling rather than batting.india should also look for special geniun fast bowler.indian should also pay some attention to their fielding.YUVRAJ MUST LEAD THE INDIAN CRICKET TEAM.(Posted: April 16, 2007, 5:25 pm)

The time has come for Indian Cricket to look forward and start building for the next Worldcup NOW.Definately Sachin/Dravid/Ganguly will not be playing then so what is to be gained by picking them for the next year or so.We should now have seperate teams for ODIs and Tests.Let the seniors concentrate on test matches. For ODIs,accent should be on fitness/fielding/running between wkts and above all "a positive attitude".Anybody who is not a good fielder should be shown the door, irrespective of what he has done in the past.Only then can India dream of winning the next world cup.(Posted: April 16, 2007, 3:08 pm)

YES. Absolutely. Time to bring new talents and bring them in a new platform to play game for India. If we need these talents to be last we need to bring new BCCI management too. Unless until we change the existing NIRANJAN SHAW and people the new one also will follow the same selfish method adopted by senior advertising cricket players. Let the board make very clear that senior or junior will get the same opportunity based on the performance and not based on the history and personal milestones. (Posted: April 16, 2007, 11:27 am)

Well it is time to try youngsters cause there is lot of slots to be filled. We need a bench strength maximum of 30 to pick from.At present Dravid should be captain for another 2 years and pick a young player & experienced one to be vice captain current nominees are yuvraj, sehwag, kaif since they been with the team for long. And player should be picked on current form & fitness not past records.Ravi shastri good choice to be coach lets see he how he fares. For the Bangladesh tour since the commitee has informed selectors to pick young team.My 15 would be Dravid(C),Yuvraj(VC),Gambhir,Utthapa,Ganguly,Kaif,Tiwari,Karthik,Dhoni,Powar,H.Singh,Sreesanth,Zaheer,M.Patel,J.Sharma.We need pace bowling all rounders and also good spinners which are our weakness at the moment.(Posted: April 13, 2007, 5:20 pm)

First of all, for indian cricket this is an unnecessary issue altogether whether all seniors should be dropped or not.If we see individual wise, Sachin is in very bad shape right now for the last 1 year or so, hence better to drop him till he shows good play in the domestic matches. About Dravid i feel it is not advisable to drop him as he is the best captain suited for the job right now but hope he learns from his mistakes of not being an aggressive captain, by aggressive i mean not showing aggressive emotions but aggressive tactics on the playground. For Sehwag i feel he should be played rather than dropped for the sole reason that he still plays his natural game of stroke making and is getting into groove. Only after he plays more competitive matches after this break, he would get stronger. However if he doesn't play well in the upcoming long tour he should be dropped. Harbhajan has to be dropped because the guy has done nothing for his game to improve for the last two years. Spinners are supposed to be aggressive, for that matter everyone should be, to take wickets but not to slow down the runrate by bowling flat. He is missing the very basic art of spin i.e to give flight. One particualar thing i don't like about him is he has got lot of attitude which is doing harm to him rather than good.Yuvrraj is doing good but did make some hasty decisions during pressure situations but he wud surely improve. That's all i have got to say about the senior players.(Posted: April 13, 2007, 7:03 am)

Yes seniors must permanently dropped from team. Sachin, saurav ,Anilkumble and Agarkar are must be dropped from test also. Anilkumble was losing his form. Recently his bowling like a medium fast bowler. He dont have a any right to speak about bowiling effort. (Posted: April 12, 2007, 6:44 am)

I believe such a change was in the offing as the average age of the players were in the 30s. This happens with most teams but the change is seamless with minor hiccups . But the way flurry of defeats have come in , I think Indians are doing much better in other games like Hockey or Badminton as in this gentlemans game . I believe this is the right time the seniors like Sachin Kumble Ganguly Dravid should think of hanging their bats and give ways to fresh blood . We need more match fit livewire players oozing to go their and perform rather than deadwoods who have seen the pinks of their careers and have no zest to " outperform " I believe there has to be an autumn before the spring !!(Posted: April 12, 2007, 5:52 am)

Fan memory is 1 game long. Most of them forgot: (a) Before world cup, India lost 4-1 against West Indies, then exited on 1st round of DLF cup, then again exited on 1st round of Champion's trophy WITH ALL THE JUNIORS CHAPPELL WANTED! (b) Then for South Africa, two seniors (Zaheer and Kumble)were included. India again had 4-0 drubbing, but those two seniors were the two best bowlers!(b)In last 1 year, Dravid-Chappell's India won ONLY 2 ODI SERIES and SACHIN AND SAURAV WERE THE MAN-OF-THE-SERIES FOR ONE EACH!(Posted: April 11, 2007, 4:34 pm)
