Say goodbye to Anil Kumble

With Anil Kumble's retirement from the shorter version of the game, and not much gas left in his tank to carry on India's spin bowling burden in the Tests, the land of spin bowling will sorely miss the presence of 'Jumbo' in their ranks.

One of the most committed Cricketer for Indian team. He has made a right decision at the right time. Sometimes i wonder, if this leggie retires from Test cricket too, will there be any bowler to win test matches for India????(Posted: July 17, 2007, 3:33 pm)

Anil Kumble the lion hearted cricketer (the highest wicket taker in Indian cricket in one-dayers and Test cricket), who has come back time and again and peformed to silence his critics has bid good-bye to one-day cricket. We as Indian's should salute him for the dedicated effort which he has conducted himself in the International scene and is an example for the others to follow. He had his limitations but did not shrink to learn and improvise on the art of leg-spin bowling. He had his own style and was very misier and very consistent in his line and length which yielded him the results. The BCCI should have given him a Great send-off and it's sad that a Great cricketer announcing his retirement in Bangalore at KSCA and this shows how professional cricket is run in the country. This lion-hearted cricketer deserved much more.(Posted: April 1, 2007, 8:54 pm)

Hi Anil, Indian engineers around the world are proud of you. You've been amazing. Personally, I thought you should have got a nod against Sri Lanka in the World cup. Anyways, your announcement comes at the right time, since Indian team is in the right slot for an overhaul. And seniors like you, giving way to the new generation, only help the cause. Take care man and see if you can contribute to ODI format in any way, from home. Cheers. Manoj(Posted: April 1, 2007, 7:19 pm)

Dear Anil, Thank you very much for being an idol for all the cricket players and lovers in India. Yours is a legendary example for everyone. You will be remembred for being a real 'fighting sportsman' who never gave up any any point, never showed his emotions, never expressed his disappointments, was always positive in his attitude, and always fought for improvement even till the last delivery you bowled. A sportsman who took an initiative to lead the Inidan attack, knew exactly the need of the hour, threw himself for every job that he did on field, may it be batting, fielding or bowling, and delivered the best of him every time....such a consistency and sportsman spirit is rarely observed in the game of Cricket Cricket. You defined the term "Fighter." Thanks a lot for many many great moments of pride to every Indian.... (Posted: March 31, 2007, 3:18 am)

Dear Anil, You remember me of the kapil dev - to me the greatest indian cricketer born in this earth. Unfortunately we indians arent proud of our bowlers who are more than our batsmen as you come from a land known for batting paradise. I would like to salute you not just because you retired at this time, but it also shows your commitment for india and also taking the responsibility of losing the world cup and it may be time to give chance to young kids. many would argue whether retiring during a team's failure is a great thing or not,but to me it is a courageous thing, as your mind still remembers abt the loss,it needs mental strength to overcome that to announce another big thing as cricket is more than a love to not only many players but even to common man in india. I would also like to thank you for your hard and fighting efforts you did for making india win matches even in abroad, you are genius, you are patriotic, you are a never say die soldier for india in a cricketing battle. have a good life with your family, india will miss you and i will miss you on screen, hope you could have sometime visiting us through televisions. i would like to see, the super jumbo fighter jet probably - Sukhoi ( it is russian) so we can say, our LCA (Tejas) should be renamed as LCA kumbles. wishing you and your family a healthy and prosperous life. India loves you and India will miss you in the cricketing field. Jaihind. Vinod.b (Posted: March 30, 2007, 6:49 pm)
