The field is very much open in tri-series
We have reached the halfway mark of the round robin of the Commonwealth Bank tri-series, and no team has really left the others way behind. All the teams are very much in the running, and each game assumes great significance from here on.
For us, the disappointment has been the inability of the batting to really take off. I thought 251 was a reasonable total against Sri Lanka in our first game against them, but after that we have been losing momentum towards the middle of the innings and have been unable to make the most of good starts.
It would be fair to say that our bowling has been our stronger suit, and our fielding though inconsistent, has been adequate.
The one player who is really batting superbly is Adam Gilchrist. I think he is batting in the best form of his career. Right through his career, Gilchrist has been accused of accelerating too soon. However, he played a magnificent controlled innings in our second game, and was exceptional yesterday.
It's always big pressure when you are playing in front of your home crowd, and since this was his last game, expectations were even greater.
Clearly, Adam has decided that he is going to make this a memorable farewell and is writing out a star part for himself. I was a little disappointed about my dismissal yesterday, because I was middling the ball well and was feeling a lot fitter than in the initial games of this tri-series.
I was dismissed by beauties from Sreesanth and Ishant Sharma, but yesterday, I just executed the shot very poorly. I certainly have under-performed this whole summer, and particularly in the last few games, but after my outing at Perth, I feel that a big one is round the corner.
The Indians have been really impressive in the tournament so far. Their bowlers have been continuing the good work they started in the Test series, and the young batsmen are also shaping up well. That said, we are confident of doing well tomorrow, particularly after we bowled so well at the MCG. Though we had a small total to defend, we really applied pressure on the Indians, and Rohit Sharma and Mahendra Singh Dhoni had to really apply themselves well in order to get us across the line.
Right now, our main aim is to play well enough to make the finals. We need to work on our batting, but I feel a good batting performance is not too far.

Dhoni should bat at number 4 if india wants to win. This will give him (Dhoni) time to score big, provide leadership and support to the youngsters and capitalize on the good bowling performance by the Indian bowlers.

Indians can lift the trophy for sure if they continue their excellent bowling display form in batting too. They have to get together and work out the strategies and their individual responsibilities. But, having said that Aussies can fire all guns blazing at any point of time in the series.

I feel India has a good chance of lifting the trophy, but to do that they really need to apply themselves and not play the way they did against Australia chasing 203. The win against Sri Lanka was not very convincing, but saw a star in Yuvraj come out - Sachin''s early dismissal in both the games played an important role in the result of both the games...hope he comes good sooner than later!!!

INDIA BEATS AUSTRALIA, AUSTRALIA BEATS SRILANKA,SRILANKA BEATS INDIA. HONOURS EVEN , IF U DISCARD THE RAIN FETCHED POINTS. PONTING IS RIGHT IN SAYING THAT ALL ARE IN WITH A CHANCE. BUT EVEN WITHOUT PLAYING TO THEIR POTENTIAL THEY ARE ABLE TO DRAG THE OTHER TWO TEAMS ALONG WITH THEM. THE PRESENT TREND POINTS TO AUSTRALIA WINNING THIS SERIES BECAUSE WHEN IT COMES TO DRIVING THE NAIL BOTH INDIA AND SRILANKA LOOK UNSURE. BOTH INDIA AND SRILANKA LOOK COMFORTABLE PLAYING AGAINST EACH OTHER. AUSTRALIA CRAMPS THEIR STYLE.
