Mohan Even though there are no questions on the quality players we have,I personally feel we have to start bringing in more youngsters because we can easily save 30- 40 runs by fielding.Without getting exposures,no youngster can come good with a bang. The `A`team players have to be given chances as well as other players in current Indian team.No point in giving them chances after series is lost. They also have to learn to thrive under pressure.Otherwise when Tendulkar,Ganguly,Dravid etc retire the void created will be too great to replace. The fifth bowler theory works only if we have a good allrounder like Irfan Pathan. He definitely would have been anyday better than a Agarkar.Where have the good fielders like Kaif,Raina vanished? For fielding to improve youngsters have to be given chance.Otherwise they may also go the ICL way. raghunathan chandrashekaran i m person lookin not at victories and defeats of a team but how the game of cricket was been played.
And at old trafford it was played with the utmost competence and the team better equipped at this point of time for the odis took the game.India didnt lose the game,England won it.
Indias batting at old trafford was a poetry, this may sound odd but it was to me.Had sachin been there for another 10 overs thi innings of his would have been the finest.Still the 55 runs he made was worth its weight in gold(Forget the result for heaven sake).
I had never seen a player handle short balls with more calm and composure even though he played and missed anderson for quite some time. After that innings ihave no qualms in sayin that he is technically the most sound batsmen against short stuff in our team.
Irrespective of the outcome of this odi series i want the master compile more finer tunes in the future ( Posted: Sunday , September 02, 2007 at 10:00 )
N. Subramanian With so many aged players in our team, there is no point in criticizing our fielding. Adding fuel to fire, unfit bowlers like Munaf Patel get selected???!!! Now the problem for the Captain is whether to select unfit Munaf or irresponsible Agarkar who can bowl four good/dot balls followed by two balls in the leg side to compensate. With the present set, why are you unnecessarily spending time to criticize our team. ( Posted: Thursday , August 30, 2007 at 17:10 )
neethu nobody seems to be performing as consistant as irfan pathan did.so its high time that dravid should understand the need of an allrounder like irfan and play him in the final eleven...instead of giving the same reasons for defeat each and every time.we are fed up mr.dravid.can anybody in the world reveal why irfan is being avoided from performing in one way or the other? Nirmal I dont know if fielding standard set by Munaf, RP singh, Karthik and Powar are higher than what we used to compare with Ganguly and Kumble in their earlier days..I am not sure if people really do the drill tests given by Fielding Coach In Robin Singh. I dont think we have a discipline in the Seniors to listen to a person who is a coach with whom they have played for sometime..

I am not sure if Sachin,Sourav,Dravid will be ready to go ahead with Drill Test given by Robin..This will in turn create a similar culture among other team mates..If this was not the case, our fielding would have improved like anything..There is no question about Robin''s capability and commitment..He would be as committed as he was during his playing days.

Indians have a habit of getting complacent when things are going good. This attitude needs to change..Unless and until we get out of this,we will continue to be as inconsistent as we have been in the past and present..in future also..

High Time Board acts on this.. ( Posted: Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 00:18 )
Alex It is understandable sourav ganguly, dravid and sachin are slow to the ball. Powar with his big belly also an exception.

What about young players like RP singh, munaf patel , Zaheer khan , chawla , dhoni and even karthik?

Why robin singh is not successful? Coach can only train you with techniques. It is players who has to apply that.

Problem is Indian (elite people in BCCI) keep selecting non athletic people in ODI Team and expecting a miracle.

1 billion dollar world richest board is clueless about selecting Indian ODI team. Reason is simple BCCI is a political organization to support the elite who owns BCCI. They only want their relatives and kins selected to the team irrespective of their non athletic build.

You can only laugh about it until every state politicians start banning their state cricket boards under BCCI.

Rajesh Enough of Karthik hype. He should not be in the ODI team. What has he done? At best he gives us 30-40 runs and everyone starts jumping on the band-wagon. He is more inconsistent than the players we criticize for inconsistency such as Sehwag. His first class career average is 32. That is not great by any standards. He is even inconsistent in fielding and wicket-keeping. Why are we so stubborn to somehow find a place for him in the team? There are many better batsmen and fielders in the country. May be give a chance to Manoj Tiwari or Rohit Sharma. They are both better batsmen and better fielders than Karthik.

more Rohit So you consider England in the subcontinent? Dhoni leads the batting average at 52 (among Indian batsmen) in this test series in England including a crucial innings in the first test that saved us the test.

R.V.JAYARAMAN Having experienced players above25 years, you cannot expect those senior players to move fast in the field. Eventhough they may wish to accelerate speed while fielding, the body muscles won''t cooperate with them. It is better we concentrate on youngsters on the outfield and senior players on the close cordon.Dropping of catches by players in the matches will act crucial in deciding the series. Hope Robin Singh will concentrate on the players more to improve our fielding in coming matches. ( Posted: Sunday , August 26, 2007 at 23:51 )
ramesh mr veera, we all saw the indian fielding and bowling so what are both the coaches doing ? do you really think that both these can improve in a day or two, these guys need hard military training to be good in the field also the indian think tank shud immediately replace agarkar as he is of no further use as the english batsmen are making mince meat of his bowling. he shud be sent back and replaced by irfan pathan or shreeshanth ( Posted: Sunday , August 26, 2007 at 18:27 )
