Mr. Naresh, you are missing out on the main thing. We won what we won because we played as a team. If in Natwest, Yuvraj and Kaif had finished it, then Ganguly and Sehwag had started it. And if you want my humble opinion, the main reason behind us reaching the World Cup finals was the team-huddle, (it became such a trend, nowadays we see almost every team doing it) - Nehra''s best bowling figures came on a match before which he was seriously injured in his right ankle - yet he had wanted to play. Team spirit sir ... that''s what the Australians have and that''s why they are the best - and that''s the same reason why we almost beat them on their own ground in 2004. We once had a team - now it''s just 11 players playing the game.

you say that india won the natwest because of yuvraj and kaif ''the young guns'', but it was under whose captaincy? saurav ganguly was the captain. you also said that he failed, yes, he did but a captain is not only a batsman but an all-round capable team man. its due to his self belief and motivation that people like yuvraj and kaif made us proud. if there are defeats, then there are victories also.as of now rahul dravid is a wall not repaired, trying to say that with batting he needs to be a team man to win big matches. you yourself must have seen the match with australia, there was no team work at all. a team must have unity to surprise opponents. thank you.

I agree with ashutosh...except one point. he conceeded that ganguly had ''failed'' in the Natwest final, like you had ignorantly alleged. FAILED? dude, he scored 60 off 40 balls, and together with sehwag (44 of 43) got the team to 114 for no loss by the 14th over (waaay over the asking run rate)... you call that failure. because if that, the run rate never hit the sky despite fall of wickets.
As for the world cup, he was the 2nd highest scorer int he tournament after Sachin (from any team). he had thee centuries and a quick 48 agains tsri lanka. yes the centuries were against minnows, but we were almost losing the super 6 match against kenya (we were 4 down for 20 odd and then dravis inexplicable began the ''slow crawl'' at the other end and THEN got out at the worst possibel time).
about the captaincy and fighting spirit enough has been said before...

Have you listened or read? "leading from front" Ganguly has no ability of captaincy. Several times we saw that he gave up in the half way. He was coward.
Also India, Pakistan or Bangladesh cannot be the number 1 in cricket inspite of the cricket craze in these countries. Big population, cricket craze but less talent. See Newzealand, there is 5 to 10% cricket fans and population is not more than any big city of India or Pakistan but we can compete Newzealand to any other.Thank you
