Ganguli has once again shown what a great batsman he is.Before he took the mantle of captaincy, he was a good batsman, but scarificed his batting. Now he is back as a pure batsman, and he IS BETTER THAN DRAVID!!

Maybe if you improve your reading skills you would not miss the part where Sanjay mentioned that it is a "deliberate twisted pun"

Wow .. its so easy to have that "I said you so" attitude .. God forbid, but if Ganguly would had flopped on his comeback, would you have the courage to say "Oh, I was wrong" .. Onto Saurav, yes he has played exceptionally well and has proved his critics wrong .. Age should not be a factor in selection .. Selection should depend on how a player is playing at the moment.

But then you would have said that! Would you have let that go? Be honest.
Sanjay Jha was probably the only journalist who supported Sourav when he was really down. And those who care to remember, would remember that he was literally villified in these response boards. People hiding behind pseudonames, would you please care to come forward?

Excellent topic this. Ganguly has played extremely well off-late and it is good for Indian cricket and fans as well.

Evidently, Mr.Jha has no clue about the tradition of Boxing Day. It has NOTHING to do about "boxing", the sport. Try again, Mr. Know It All! A quick look at Wiki might help.

All ganguly supporters are really really stupid!. Ganguly always well against weak teams. Ganguly will get out cheaply against aussies. Watch out!. And i am 100% sure sachin will play well against aussies. The one guy who can trouble him is gone. The only guy who is really dangerous to sachin is mitchell johnson. He is their trump card. Also if indians went on the attack against Tait , Indians can do well. If they are afraid of tait , then india will be bundled out cheaply. I know how aussies play. They take out run scoring oppurtunities and make you think how you going to score. That is where indian batsman will make mistake. But take out dravid , they need a good ball. I really think to aussie to win big , indian batsman has to choke against tait and mitchell johnson take out sachin. if india counter these two , indians can win..it all depends on who bat first though. Without runs on the board there is no pressure.

I am sure you don''t understand much about cricket, Even after the man has scored 239 and 91 in a test match and has constantly proved himself there are people like you who just don''t like him for some personal reason of their own. There is nothing not to like about the man. The most successful Indian Captain. A great visionary , having built this team. Yuvraj, Harbhajan, Shewag, Zaheer they are all his find. India is reeping the benefits of the team he put together. Also, just to remind you he was the only one to get a 100 in the first test in 2003 against Ozzies.

Looks like Alex is the only intelligent person in the forum :-) Alex, wake up. Overestimating yourself can sometimes make you look like biggest fool in the lot. Just like Mr. Chappel overestimating his coaching abilities now have egg on his. I read one excellent column for Gavaskar recently where he has mentioned about a certain gentleman who is working in a country where he is not welcome. The same gentleman taunted Ganguly about his desperate need for money. The fact is that Ganguly is from a wealthy family plus he had earned enough before being dropped to want money so desperatly. The irony is, that gentleman Mr Chappel, though unwanted in India is now training a B rated ranji team. Possibly that is what he deserves.
I too hope Sachin plays well as there is a lot left in him yet. Rahul looks little circumspect these days but hope he too plays well.

Dr. Banibrata Mukhopadhyay
It is the way Ganguly could best reply through his bat to the Western and South Indian Cricket selectors viz, Sharad Pawar, Kiran More and co. who think the cricket knowledge is a purcasable commodity and they have the final authority for the last delivery as they have won it by their money. The recent politics against The former great like Vengsarkar by the BCCI/Pawar and rest of the cricket illeterate regional selectors is another example of flexing muscle power of the evil forces in Indian Cricket. I hope Dilip Vengsarkar will also bounce back in time to teach them a lession.

WHAT EVER PEOPLE SAY...HOME GROUND ADVANTAGE..BAD BOWLING ATTACK....WAHTEVER....IT IS NOT THAT SIMPLE TO GET RUNS......RUNS ARE RUNS WHEREVER THEY ARE SCORED......ONE HAS TO SCORE THEM ..THEY ARE NOT GIFTED TO ANYONE ......give credit where one desrves it dont just criticse people..proving in australia...remember 2003 it was DADA''s century that set the tone...so i hope every one of his DETRACTORS and the PUNDITS can take a breather till the next series ends..lets enjoy when we are on a high......australia is a hurdle lets jump it WHEN WE ARE NEAR IT......DADA''s comeback is a fairytale stuff...thank god its real..i admit i am an hardcore cricket fan and an fan of DADA...his aggression his style his passion.....i hav got into many a arguments for the treatment meeted out to him durin GURU GREG''S "COMMITMENT TOWARDS" EXCELLECNE campaign.....we all know here we hav reached with that.......but now i hav a smile wen i see these ppl with whom i hav argued and while we discuss cricket......so lets jus enjoy this momnt after so many years winning against PAKISTAN at home......lets hope and pray that we do better than last time in AUSTRALIA.....

Nirmal
It is nothing great to score runs and make records against a weak team and that too on home ground with a tailor made pitch which suits batting, where that ball rarely rises above the knee roll..it is a shame that indian batsmen are congratulated when they perform on insipid tracks and against poor bowling. Will the "great" Indian batsmen with "indomitable spirit" repeat the record breaking performance against Australia in their own backyard?

Raman
To me, he is the one who changed the face of Indian cricket who were once termed as "Tigers @home & pussy cats abroad" by his in-the-face attitude. The slogan is not valid any more. So many so-called greats played before him and also captained the team, but no one could change that. Sourav is always great (no matter whether he is in the team or not) and will be remembered forever for changing the attitude of the Indian cricket team and to some extent, life in general.
