It's amazing how some sportspersons can go on and on and on defying all odds, including, putting their ageing bodies to full use to entertain the crowd to the fullest. The case in point is none other than former Aussie spin legend Shane Warne, who mesmerized the Kings Eleven batsmen with flight and turn, when all seemed lost to Rajasthan Royals in the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL). Symonds is no saint
If you go by the recent controversy surrounding the India-Australia cricket players and the subsequent ruling (fining Ishant Sharma 15 per cent of his match fees) by ICC match referee Jeff Crowe one doubts the authenticity of the verdict. What Crowe should have been asking himself is why does the controversies surround only Symonds (remember the Symonds-Bhajji spat during Sydney Test) and not any of the other Aussie players even though hosts' skipper Ricky Ponting and opener Matthew Hayden are accused of instigating Symonds against Bhajji. Where are the quality spinners?
India's Test skipper Anil Kumble could turn out to be the last of the quality spinners from South Zone, which used to boost of at least a couple of spinners viewing for a Test spot at a given time till a decade ago. If you go by whatever spin talent was show cased by South Zone during their Duleep Trophy match against East Zone in Mumbai recently, the talent cupboard looks totally empty as every youngster down South seems to aspire to follow in the footsteps of pacemen Javagal....
