A keen student of the game V Veera Kumar represented Maharaja’s College, Mysore, in cricket. But he found his calling in writing, rather than playing, cricket. He has covered all major cricket tournaments, including Reliance World Cup. Some of the cricketing greats he has interviewed include Ajit Wadekar, Nari Contractor, Sandeep Patil, G R Vishwanath, Vivian Richards, Sunil Gavaskar, Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath and Sachin Tendulkar.

Lot has been said about India's new cricket coach Gary Kirsten of South Africa but the man himself seems to be media shy and quite enjoying all the attention he got his meeting with the players before the third and final Test match against Pakistan at Bangalore. What catches the eye when one speaks to the former South African opener is his mannerisms and short and crisp replies to any queries related to Indian cricket or his personal life, which could turn out to be a blessing in disguise,....
