A keen student of the game V Veera Kumar represented Maharaja’s College, Mysore, in cricket. But he found his calling in writing, rather than playing, cricket. He has covered all major cricket tournaments, including Reliance World Cup. Some of the cricketing greats he has interviewed include Ajit Wadekar, Nari Contractor, Sandeep Patil, G R Vishwanath, Vivian Richards, Sunil Gavaskar, Wasim Akram, Glenn McGrath and Sachin Tendulkar.

Former comeback man Mohinder Amarnath once termed the Indian selectors as 'a bunch of jokers' and the same can be applied to the present lot of Indian cricket selectors, headed by former Indian captain Dilip Vengsarkar. How can the selectors pick Wasim Jaffer ahead of an in-form Gautam Gambhir in the One-Day squad and fall back on leg-spinner Anil Kumble, one of the slowest movers on the field and a total failure on the bouncy South African wickets in the past, ahead of a consistent performer and off-spinner Ramesh....

Stop over experimenting Greg!

It is time some one tells the Aussie import and Indian coach Greg Chappell to stop over experimenting with the Indian team. One wonders if the Indian cricket board appointed coach is trying to knit a winning unit for next year’s World Cup or is he totally confusing the ‘Men in Blue’ and playing with the sentiments of millions of cricket fans in the country. His remarks on his opponents seem to backfire repeatedly and instead of inspiring his boys, it seems to motivate the rivals like....

Are Aussies vulnerable against spin?

Are the mighty Australians vulnerable to spin bowling? If you by their present performance in the on-going Champions Trophy suggest just that as they struggled really hard against a mediocre West Indies spinners like Chris Gayle (part time) and Marlon Samuels in their disastrous opening match on October 18. Surprisingly, their skipper Ricky Ponting and most experienced batsman Damien Martyn, who are good players of spin bowling, have struggled to find form even though the latter got runs against England in their previous game on October 21. Agreed....

One of the most feared fast bowlers in the history of world cricket, Shoaib Akhtar, seems to enjoy flirting with controversies, unmindful of meeting a disgraceful end to his glorious International career with the latest doping incident, along with his new ball partner Mohammad Asif, during the on-going Champions Trophy in India.
